Good vibe and music.

Antipasti: Wood Fired Bread / Burrata/ Salted Beetroot/ Artichokes

Antipasta was delicious. Bread was excellant.

Sides: Roasted carrots, red pesto

Rocket, parmesan salad

And then came the pasta dishes. The Roman gourmand Apicius is purported to have said “you first eat with your eyes”. Visual stimuli create subconscious expectations that actively alter how your brain interprets taste, smell and overall flavour. The presentation of each of the pasta dishes was unappetising.

Pasta: Reginette, crab, tomato, chilli, pangrattato (Crab and chilli appeared to be illusory, both in presentation and flavour).

Papperdelle, lamb ragu. Presentation was again off-putting. The plate was room temperature and food slightly above room temperature. Pasta was perfectly al dente (I suppose serving it at room temperature means that the pasta doesn’t continue to cook), and the flavour was delicious. However it needed some pepper, and no S & P on the table and no waiter until after the meals were eaten.

Tiramisu, almond” Very good presentation.

Almonds were interesting, adding a crunch. I would call this more of Trifle (which I am not a fan of) rather than Tiramisu (which I love). The inside seemed to be more of a light sponge cake with alcohol and whipped cream. Coffee & Mascarpone seemed to be lacking. I prefer the traditional recipe using Savoiardi (ladyfinger biscuits), rather than sponge cake. As a Tiramisu it was disappointing.

For Tiramisu nerds, there are rules and a World Cup: https://tiramisuworldcup.com/en/the-rules/

THE BILL

Will I go back? Unlikely.
