Grilled tofu puffs with rojak sauce (Tahu bakar)

  • deep-fried tofu puffs
  • sambal oelek
  • Lebanese cucumbers
  • black prawn paste
  • belacan
  • peanuts
  • dried tamarind pulp
  • bean sprouts
  • lime

The base is great (tofu puffs, cucumber and bean sprouts), but the Rojak Sauce was not to my liking probably because of the balacan which in this recipe is not cooked.   I note in Charmaine Solomon’s Encyclopaedia of Asia Food, for Rojak, she wraps the balacan in foil and roasts under a grill.    This is a must do if I repeat the dish.
