Divided the leaves from the stems.
Brought a large pot of boiling (slightly salted) water to boil.
Play stems in boiling water for 3 minutes, and then add the leaves and continue cooking for a further minute then drain. So far so good.
Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root or to taste
This sauce didn’t excite me. I would omit the cornstarch, but look for a different sauce.
